Kesha Performs “True Colors” With Zedd At Coachella

Kesha has no talent.” “Kesha can’t sing” “Kesha sucks”

What do you have to say now haters? Kesha is up there straight up serving the crowd with her insanely talented vocals!

Kesha is giving me some serious Florance + The Machine vibes with this performance.

There isn’t much left to say and I just hope and pray that she gets out of her Sony deal soon enough so we can be blessed with her talents again.

#FreeKesha

Also, shout out to Zedd, right when all of the information about Kesha and Sony came out, Zedd tweeted saying he wanted to make music with her. They had to figure out a loophole and here it was, Coachella where magic happens.

Sony Offered To ‘Free’ Kesha From Her Contract If….

Sony music, you really need to get it together. It is absolutely disgusting that they are offering to let Kesha go, as long as she was to apologize to their biggest producers. Their producer that has allegedly raped and emotionally tormented Kesha for years now.

Know what the worst part of this whole thing is? Other than the fact Sony music is disgusting. They basically want Kesha to backtrack everything that she has said in order to make them look better. Sony is aware how awful they look with this case, they aren’t stupid, they know that this isn’t a smart business move for them.

Say if for some reason Kesha decided to go along with this plan, it would be very clear that no one would want to sign her or buy her music, or anything. The people who love to victim blame would get a hard on about the whole situation, and Kesha would lose everything that she has worked on for years.

I still stand with Kesha, and I hope soon enough she is free from the disgusting company of Sony, and I hope that Sony doesn’t think they will be getting away unscathed. None of this is a good look for their company.

Dr. Luke Denies That Sony Music Is Dropping Him

So yesterday there was a rumor that Sony dropped Dr. Luke after he allegedly sexually assaulted Kesha and stars like Lady Gaga, Adele, and Kelly Clarkson have come to the defense of the singer. It looks like that was simply a rumor though, so I apologize for writing about it. Usually I try and make sure that stories are accurate but I guess I thought too highly of Sony music.

Dr. Luke’s attorney had this to say.

An attorney for Dr. Luke has issued a statement refuting reports that Sony has fired the producer.

“This is not true,” the lawyer tells Rolling Stone. “Luke has an excellent relationship with Sony. His representatives are in regular contact with executives at the highest levels at Sony and this has never come up.”

A spokesperson for Sony declined to comment on the statement. (credit)

So here I am apologizing because I genuinely thought that in the end, Sony would do what is right. So many singers have come out with claims about being blackmailed by Dr. Luke considering how controlling he is. Truthfully I am not sure why they are holding onto him. I understand that people are innocent until proven guilty but I would think that they would put the safety of their artists ahead of the power of their producers.

Unfortunately we live in a world where the abused are usually questioned while the abuser walks free. Dr. Luke is still making money, he is still doing a job that he loves. Kesha? Kesha is forced to work in an environment where she doesn’t feel safe. She is locked in a contract where she can’t even preform live without Sony or Dr. Luke making money off of it. As a woman it is terrifying to me that if I was in this situation people would be questioning me rather than the person that physically and emotionally abused me.

Looks like we are back to square one on this. I have an idea, boycott Sony music.

Sony Music Has Dropped Dr.Luke As A Producer

Well everybody this is a giant leap in the right direction for Kesha and for the music industry. Ever since Kesha came out and opened up about Dr. Luke’s alleged abuse many people have obviously taken her side. Artists have come out and said they were basically forced to work with Dr. Luke in the past and that he was very controlling, powerful, that type of thing.

Today though, Sony stripped him of his power. He is not allowed to produce with them anymore and that, that is something we should all be happy about.

Hopefully now we can hear more music from Kesha and she feels safe to record with Sony as her label again. It took a while but they finally listened and did what in my opinion was the right move.

Kesha Posts Instagram Thanking Everyone For Their Support

Let’s just hope that Kesha‘s legal battle will be over soon and she will be able to put out music again. May no other female artist have to go through what she is going through at this very moment.

Demi Lovato Denies Shading Taylor Swift

So last night Demi Lovato got pretty fired up on Twitter about how there are certain feminists who aren’t doing enough about the Kesha vs Dr. Luke controversy that is currently going on. Honestly at first I thought, okay that is clearly about Taylor Swift and she should say something. Taylor has a platform not many other artists have. She can take down streaming sites, she can mail her fans gifts, certainly she can speak on this and it is a shame that she hasn’t.

Then Taylor donated $250,000 to Kesha to continue on with her court hearings and everything else. Kesha’s mom announced it, Taylor didn’t say anything about it. She just quietly donated money, no announcement. After it was confirmed though, this happened on Twitter.

So I mean, if that isn’t shade I don’t know what is. Demi went hard on that Instagram post.

Clearly someone in Demi’s camp told her that she needed to smarten up because Taylor Swift runs the world so she needed to apologize.

Demi went on to say this.

As most people know, I tend to get fired up about the things I believe in, and although my heart and intentions are always in the right place, unfortunately sometimes my passion gets the best of me and causes me to say things that I probably shouldn’t say, and when doing so takes away from the real reason I am speaking up in the first place. Our focus should be on the topic of victims of sexual and physical abuse being afraid to come forward with their stories. They’re more likely to face retaliation and harassment than to see justice being serviced. Especially women. It baffles me that when it comes to serious issues like equality and abuse, too often women are not taken as seriously as men. All I want to see is women coming together and actually making a difference. A real change and shift in society. Everyone has their own way of giving support to others, and at the end of the day, helping victims is all that matters. Ultimately, the message I want people to hear is it’s okay to come forward with your abuse and if you do decide to take action, you are not alone.

I am just going to sit here and sip my tea while Demi continues to back pedal.

Truth is that whether it is donating, speaking, or boycotting Sony music, any action is a step in the right direction.

Let’s Talk About Why Kesha Is So Important Right Now

If you weren’t aware Kesha is currently in a heated court battle against famed producer Dr.Luke. Kesha is currently fighting for her freedom to be released from Sony so she no longer has to work with a producer who has allegedly drugged and raped the singer. Not only that, but he had allegedly emotionally abused her as well, telling her that she is the size of a fridge, among other things. Dr.Luke’s camp has denied all of these claims stating that Kesha is simply trying to extort a producer who worked hard to make her a pop superstar.

On Friday (Feb. 19th) a judge denied Kesha’s plead to be released from her contract. The judge stated that she could easily stay with Sony and work with a different producer.

There is a lot that can be said here. People can say whatever they would like about Kesha and her brand, how she represents herself but let me say one thing. Rape is never okay. A girl could be walking down a city street naked, that doesn’t make it okay for her to be raped. The system is not helping Kesha with this, if anything they are letting Kesha down.

In my personal opinion this is just another way that a man of power is able to use that power to harm a woman.

Let’s put it this way, Zayn Malik no longer wanted to be in One Direction because he didn’t feel passionate about the music anymore. Guess what happened? He was released from his record contract no problem. There was no abuse noted, he just simply didn’t want to be in the band anymore. Do you see how crazy that sounds?

It blows my mind how the industry handles different cases when it comes to women and men. There is absolutely no reason why Chris Brown should still be allowed to create music after what happened to Rihanna. It wasn’t Chris’ career that was on the line, he simply had to stay in the shadows for about a year then make a comeback. Rihanna’s career was basically on the line after the assault too, all eyes were on her and if she would be able to continue being a strong female for the media. She did, but her career was put in jeopardy far more than Chris’ was. If it wasn’t that assault then it was the media spectacle that took place using Britney and Mariah’s public breakdowns. Let’s talk about how no one had compassion for Whitney and Amy until their untimely deaths.

This case is just another example of how this specific industry is run. It shows of the public treats female artists that suffer from physical abuse, emotional abuse, mental health issues, just to name a few issues that they are faced with that somehow becomes the media’s business. Not the media’s business to help them, but the media’s business to follow their every move to make sure that they have pictures of every single part of the spiral down.

How many more women need to be harmed in order for this to stop? This is much larger than the music industry too, this is from any job sector.

Listen to Kesha Sing ‘Amazing Grace’

Where has Kesha been? Well number one she dropped the  $ from her name, but don’t let that throw you off. She is still here. She is just in a legal battle with Dr. Luke, someone who is not letting her release new music. How dare he, right? Kesha is a goddess. You can hate on her for her sing/talk music but she is incredible and that is that.

The thing that most people don’t realize about Kesha is that she is absolutely brilliant. She is a song writer and she can actually sing. She decided to bless us all with her own version of ‘Amazing Grace’ which I want to thank her for, because she can’t put out new music. Dr. Luke is fucking us all over. I just want new Kesha music! That is all! Is that too much to ask for?!

Dr. Luke, let Kesha be free and make music. Her voice needs to be heard, her lyrics need to be heard, and I miss this human glitter bomb.

Will ‘Rising Star’ Be A Hit Or A Flop?

So ‘Rising Star’ is going to be a new reality singing competition on ABC which premiers on June 22nd and I just saw the first trailer for it. What do I think about it? I don’t even understand it. I mean I guess I do. The singers are preforming in real time and they start off on a stage with a wall surrounding them. Then people vote in real time and if they get enough votes, the wall rises, pretty simple.

What is the point of this show though? It kind of reminds me how in Gladiator when the king would do thumbs up or thumbs down to kill someone or keep them alive. Strange, right?

Also what do Josh Groban, Ludacris, Kesha, and Brad Paisley have to do with any of this? I mean they made it clear that they are not the judges. They say it multiple times through out the little commercial that I posted above. So what do they do? Also what happens to the people that win? Are there more rounds?

So many questions, so few answers! Maybe I will check out the first episode to see what it is about but I don’t think I am going to be about this ‘Rising Star’ life no matter how much I love Ludacris and Kesha. I think that ‘The Voice’ is where it is going to be at for the next few years anyway.

Will you tune into this show?
