Kelly Clarkson Cries During “It’s Quiet Uptown” On The Today Show

So, Kelly Clarkson is one of my favorite and in my opinion, one of the most underrated female vocalists of all time.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, Kelly Clarkson appeared on ‘The Today Show’ to perform “It’s Quiet Uptown” that is featured on The Hamilton Mixtape. It is probably my favorite song of the entire mixtape. No, all of the songs are great, this song is just so beautiful written and Kelly absolutely slays it.

Kelly ends up tearing up during the performance, and I can’t blame her. The song is extremely emotional but she still sounds incredible.

And this is why Kelly is one of my all time favorite singers.

Bow down to queen Clarkson.

Ashanti & Ja Rule Team Up For The Hamilton Mixtape’s “Helpless”

Let’s be real, 2016 has been a real shit year. It has been one of the worst years I can remember, just a real dumpster fire of a year.

Know what might save it though, the ‘Hamilton Mixtape‘, songs have been slowly leaking and so far every single one is incredible. The remixes are just insane.

The most important thing is that it brought Ashanti and Ja Rule back into our lives. In case you didn’t know these two gave us incredible songs in the early 2000’s. So they might be here to save the year!

Obviously “Satisfied” is one of the most pivotal songs in the entire play and I think that Ashanti did an incredible job. She is just out there reminding us all that she is an incredible vocalist, and Ja Rule steps in to remind us that he stills sounds like he smoked a pack a day.

Check out the song below and let me know what you think!

Kelly Clarkson’s Song From The ‘Hamilton’ Mixtape Will Make You Really Emotional

Chills. That is really all that I can say. Kelly Clarkson is one of my favorite female vocalists of all time. Her voice is just so hauntingly beautiful and her cover of this song? Oh my God, it is absolute perfection. I love the original from the actual musical ‘Hamilton’, but I am so ready for this ‘Hamilton’ mixtape, you have no idea.

Take a moment and listen to this gorgeous cover, and get read to cry.

In case you aren’t familiar with the ‘Hamilton’ musical, this song takes place after Alexander and Eliza’s son dies, and they are both in mourning. You should listen to the original too, but this cover? Crying all the tears right now.

Lin-Manuel Is Releasing The Hamilton Mixtape Featuring Nas, Usher, Sia, & More!

Yes, I am one of those people who will always tell you to listen to the Hamilton soundtrack and then talk about how it changed my life while making me love musicals more. Yes, that’s me. Hello.

Well today, Lin-Manuel announced that he is releasing a mixtape featuring an incredible amount of talented singers.

Check out the track list.

So, I have listened to this album on repeat for the past five months or so, I know every line, and I am ready for this. Here I can listen to all of the incredible songs but with new vocalists? Count me in!

The only other place I can picture Ashanti, Kelly Clarkson, and Busta Rhymes being on the same album would be a “Now That’s What I Call Music” album, right?

It will be available for preorder tomorrow and will officially go on sale December 2nd.

I am willing to wait for it, are you?

Grease: Live Star Jordan Fisher Joins Hamilton!

If you ask me who the break out start of Grease: Live was I would absolutely say that it was Jordan Fisher. He was absolutely incredible and it looks like other people recognized it as well.

Fisher will be taking over for Anthony Ramos playing the dual role of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton. Ramos’ last day on stage is November 20th.

Personally, I know I will probably never be able to see Hamilton live but I am so excited for Jordan, his voice is absolutely incredible and I think that his talent is something out of this world.

Congrats Jordan! Maybe one day I can see Hamilton live, or like see a clip on Youtube or something like that.

Man Crush Monday: Lin-Manuel Miranda

All summer I have been listening to one album, and I believe that a lot of other people are with me when I say that I am obsessed with the ‘Hamilton’ soundtrack. My god, it is absolute perfection and even though the show is sold out until 2018 or whatever, I will listen to it on repeat until I can see it live. In my opinion it is revolutionary, and who is behind it? This man right here, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the entire script after reading a book about Alexander Hamilton.

Lin-Manuel stepped down as the lead in ‘Hamilton’ over the summer but I am absolutely positive that we will be seeing a lot more of him in the future.

Lin-Manuel is of course extremely handsome, but it is more than that with him. He is brilliant. That simple. Anyone who can put together an entire play, movie, musical, write an entire album, in my opinion is brilliant.

For the record, he is also really funny on Twitter which you have to appreciate and seems to always respond to fans. The best was when he put together songs from Les Mis and Jay-Z, I can see that being an interesting play!

Happy Monday and if you haven’t listened to the ‘Hamilton’ soundtrack, go and do it!

Who Should’ve Replaced Lin-Manuel Miranda In ‘Hamilton’

So the creative genius that is Lin-Manuel is leaving the Broadway hit ‘Hamilton’ to probably go and write another absolute Broadway smash. It’s obvious that this show will be around for a long time and he probably doesn’t want to be completely tied down, which is understandable.

It has been announced that his replacement will be his understudy, Javier Munoz.  Munoz will officially start on July 11th as the title character.

Now, I am glad that the understudy is able to make it to the stage but there are a few people that I would have loved to see take the stage as Lin-Manuel’s replacement, at least for a short period of time.

Taye Diggs

Taye Diggs can sing, really well. He was in ‘Rent’, he was also in ‘Hedwig’, both on Broadway. He has the resume and he isn’t so bad to look at.

Donald Glover

Whether you call him Donald or Childish Gambino, I think that we can all agree that he is by far one of the most talented men in the business. He can rap, he can act, and he is so damn humble about it.

Drake

Personally, I know that Drake is a good actor. He was great on Degrassi and he can rap. He could pull off ‘Hamilton’ for sure. Drake also has zero street credit, so he could be on Broadway no issue.

Justin Timberlake

JT because, why not? I mean he can sing, he can dance, and he is one of the best entertainers of our time. He will absolutely go down at one of the best. Truthfully I am surprised he hasn’t really shown a serious interest in theater yet.

J. Cole

J.Cole would absolutely be my first choice to take over the spot for Lin-Manuel, I highly doubt that he would do it. J. Cole is a serious rapper and I couldn’t imagine him on a Broadway stage wearing tights, but I think it would be awesome. Everything that J does, he puts his heart and soul into. That would absolutely be my dream.

Who did you hope would take Lin-Manuel’s place?

Man Crush Monday: Daveed Diggs

So I will probably never see ‘Hamilton’ live and that is something that I have come to accept. I will listen to the soundtrack all day though and pretend that I am not sitting in an office!

Last night at the Tony awards, the play ‘Hamilton’ won 11 awards, and Daveed ended up being one of the winners for supporting actor I believe. Well while watching I kind of fell in love with him, is that weird? Is that too much? I don’t care.

There is something about a man that can rock a wild haircut and still look attractive, am I right? I think so.

It has been a very heavy few days in the news so I wanted to try and bring a lighter article today.

So let’s give it up to this weeks Man Crush Monday, a man who can sing, dance, and has a smile that could make even the coldest of hearts melt. Plus he is a Brown graduate so you know that he has brains, just one of the many great things that he can bring to the table.

Happy Monday!
