The Best Dressed Women Of The 2017 Oscars!

Hey everyone! We are so happy to be back guest blogging for Celebrities Are Tragic! This is always such a fun thing for us to do and we love the fashion of any award show, but something about The Academy Awards is just so magical.  We were surprised this year by the lack of dresses that we loved. There were plenty of ones we didn’t like but we like to spread fashion positivity  because those women felt beautiful, so who are we to tell them they’re not?!  We kinda wanted to do a best dressed after party list because that is where the fashion was! We did include on look from an after party so keep on reading to check who made the list! Congrats to all the beautiful ladies who were nominated and who won! 5) Elizabeth Banks in Elie Saab

We decided to add in an after party look because we honestly didn’t have many favorites this year, which is shocking because usually everyone brings it! But when we saw this dress we had to give it a shout out! This was the perfect party dress to show up in.  We loved the gold color with all the butterfly and flower appliques looked like they were floating on her dress. It was the perfect combination of fun and sexy.  We loved the shoulder detail and black belt. We were so happy she wore her hair up because when you have a dress like this, you don’t want to take away from it. Overall she nailed it! Best After party dress for sure goes to Elizabeth.

4) Hailee Steinfield in Ralph & Russo.

This dress was so elegant and girly. We were obsessed from the moment we saw it! Her designers had a painter flown in to hand paint the dress while she was in it so the flowers could all be appropriately placed because the fabric was so sheer. That is couture! Her Smokey eye was beautiful and brought the drama. We loved that she kept her hair up to show off the high neckline of the dress.

3) Taraji P. Henson in Alberta Ferretti

She brought the sexy to the red carpet! Everything from the silhouette to the neckline was stunning. It looked black on TV and pictures but it was actually a deep navy blue.  We loved the simple shoes because her necklace was so extravagant. We also loved that she did a bob hairstyle to show off the deep v-neckline and necklace. Loved it!

2) Janelle Monae in Elie Saab

This dress will go down as one of the most iconic Oscar dresses in history. She looked like a regal queen floating on the red carpet. There was so much detail in this dress. We loved the bodice, it was totally giving us Halle Berry  vibes circa 2002 when she won her Oscar. The sheer fabric with the lace beaded appliques were stunning. Hair and makeup was on point! She has dream eyebrows that we all want!

1) Viola Davis in Armani Prive

SO beautiful. Everything about this dress was amazing. The silhouette, the color, the neck line. Just perfection! Her hair and makeup was flawless. This was a dress to win in! Aside from looks, her speech was so inspiring and she moved us to tears! Congrats Viola, we love ya!

The Best Dressed Women Of The 2017 Golden Globes

I have said it in previous posts that I am not very good with the whole fashion thing. I know what looks good and I know what doesn’t but I can’t really get into fashion.

Which is why I have asked my good friends Emily and Hannah to help out like they have in the past! Emily is a videographer who loves celebrity gossip as much as I do, I believe that she is even making a celebrity gossip YouTube channel which I will post once it is up! Hannah has her own YouTube channel where she gives make up tutorials and has even had Ashley Tisdale retweet some of her videos!

Simply said, these two girls are the real deal. In case you’re wondering, Emily’s Twitter handle is @Iamemilycohn and Hannah’s is @HannahE_Beauty.

5. Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore in Naeem Khan. Mandy has not been on the golden globes red carpet since 2011 and she sure did dress to impress.  She looked so elegant in this gown. We loved her hair and makeup. She honestly could have wore her hair up and it still would have been perfect. She made the deep plunging neckline classy! It was all just perfect.

4. Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon in Versace. Again, another beautiful yellow number. She looked like old Hollywood. We also got major Elle Woods vibes from her tonight! The silhouette was perfect for her and we loved that she wore her hair up and kept the jewelry simple yet eye catching.

3. Lily Collins

Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad. One word: Regal. This dress was breathtaking. For the first time being a nominee this dress will be so memorable to her and to all of us. The color was beautiful and the lace appliqué on this dress should win an award! We were so happy to see her hair up to show off the dress, as well as her bold lip color and dream eyebrows.

2. Viola Davis

 

Viola Davis in Michael Kors Collection. We love this women! Not only is she a beautiful soul but she sure knows how to slay every red carpet during the awards circuit.  This yellow sequin number looked amazing on her.

1. Emma Stone

Emma Stone in Valentino. This was the dress to win in. Everything was beautiful about it. We loved how it was only a couple shades darker than her skin tone because it literally gave her the illusion that she was wearing stars! Everything from the hair, makeup and jewelry was perfection. Easy A if  you ask us!

 

Trends for the night:
We saw a lot of yellow tonight! Viola Davis, Reese Witherspoon, and Masie Williams all donned the bright color.

Deep Neck lines everywhere! Mandy Moore, Emma Stone, Kristin Bell, and Jessica Biel all slayed this trend.
Glitter! If only Glitter was a color! ( It totally is!)  Sarah Paulson, Sofia Vergara, Nicole Kidman, Tracee Ellis Ross, Claire Foy, and Priyank Chopra, just to name a few,  all rolled in glitter for this event and we can’t get enough. Bury us in glitter.

Classic Black

Can’t go wrong with the LBD mentality when hitting the red carpet. The whole damn world is watching you. It’s a very safe and elegant choice. Also black menswear on women was done by Evan Rachel Wood and Kathryn Hahn perfectly.

Best Dressed Women Of The 2016 Oscars!

As usual I had a little help from my favorite twins Emily and Hannah when it came to fashion. I did a few posts about what I liked but I really have no idea about fashion. That is why I let these two girls take the reigns!

5.Priyanka Chopra in Zuhair Murad

This was her first time at the Oscars and this dress was beautiful. Simple, yet elegant. We loved the sheer white fabric with flower embroidery. Her hair was perfectly pulled back into a low ponytail and her jewelry was also very simple. This was a beautiful gown for a presenter, well done!

4. Rachel McAdams in August Getty Atelier

Again, another emerald number that we died over. Her newly platinum locks complimented the dress so perfectly. We loved the high neckline and the slit. She showed the perfect amount of skin for an occasion like this. She kept it simple with her jewelry and shoes.  We were hoping for a Notebook reunion, but were let down. It could have happened.

3. Jennifer Garner in Atelier Versace

Wow. This is how you show up to the Academy Awards. Everything was beautiful. We loved the silhouette of the dress. Because the top of her dress had some embellishment, she opted for simple earrings and bracelets and it was a smart move.  She is a pro.  She was the perfect picture of Hollywood glamour. If she ran into Ben at the after parties, we are assuming he is kicking himself.

2.Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein

She wanted to wear the color green to represent Ireland and make them proud. Mission accomplished. This dress was perfect for her because it was custom made. Each sequin was hand sewn individually, they deserve and Oscar, lets be real. She perfectly paired her stunning emerald drop earrings to go with the dress. This whole award circuit she is a fan of the fairy tale dresses and last night she gave us some edge and we have to say she can do both. Her hair and makeup were beautiful. Not many updos last night and we loved it.

1.Brie Larson in Gucci

Everything about this dress was perfection. The deep blue was the perfect color. A big red carpet trend we have seen all season was jewel tones and this was it. The embellished belt was perfect and because of that, she kept her hair, makeup and jewelry very simple and it complimented the whole look. The minute we saw her on the red carpet, our jaws dropped. This was the dress to win in and she won. Not only will her role be remembered, but this dress and how damn humble she is. Congrats girl!

Bet let’s be real, these two were the real winners of the red carpet!

Best Dressed Men At The 2016 Golden Globes

Award nights are not just fun for the women, the men tend to get dressed up and look dapper as hell as well. This year though, there was a lot of velvet and bow-ties, which I found a bit strange but I also liked. Most men just throw on a suit and call it a day but I put together a list of the best dressed men to walk the red carpet last night! If you are interested the list of best dressed women was done last night by two very talented guest bloggers! I highly recommend that you check it out!

I think we can all agree that all these men look great, some just fill out suits better than others, that simple.

The Official List Of The Best & Worst Dressed At The 2016 Golden Globe Awards!

Every year during award season I have my two great friends and fashion experts Hannah Cohn and Emily Cohn step in to help me out! I do my best but I genuinely don’t know much about fashion. I did throw in my picks for worst dressed though because I don’t know when something looks good, but I know when something looks seriously bad.

Anyway here is my personal glam squad to do a round up of the trends, along with the best and worst for the 2016 Golden Globes!

Trends of the night for the 2016 Golden Globes were: sequins, the color white and jewel tones, also lots of yellow, reds and blues. Makeup was a lot of simple eyes and bold lips.

Worst Dressed

1.Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara in Alexander McQueen. This dress just blended in too much with her skin tone. There were so many things going on. It looks like she wore a curtain that went though the wash machine the wrong way. However, we did love her Disney princess Jasmine ponytail and her makeup was beautiful.

2.Maggie Gyllenhaal

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Marc Jacobs. This dress was just wrong for this event. It looked like a costume. The bright pink lip didn’t pair well with the yellow. The pattern and the flower detail on the shoulder was too loud.

3.Eva Longoria

This dress just had way too much going on. Between the flower embellishments on the hips, the bowtie belt, and the cut out bowtie jeweled neckline. Maybe if these elements weren’t all together it would have looked nice, because lets be honest, Eva always brings it to the red carpet. I will say her hair and makeup were stunning.

4. Kate Hudson

So this was my personal pick (Willi Killiams)  for worst dress that my girls left off. We get it Kate, you are sleeping with Nick Jonas and you have a banging body. We get it, okay. We really get it. You don’t need to wear something out of a 90’s Britney Spears music video to remind us. I understand this isn’t the Oscars, but it also isn’t the MTV Movie Awards, this outfit isn’t acceptable. Nice abs though.

Best Dressed

1.Brie Larson

Brie Larson in Calvin Klein. This was a dress to win in and she did. She looked like an actual Golden Globe in the best was possible. The way the dress reflected in the light was spellbinding. Her hair and makeup was beautiful and complicated the dress really well. She looked fab head to toe. The minute we saw her, we both said “best dressed of the night”.

2.Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez in Giamvbattista Valli. Whether J.Lo is leaving little to the imagination or covered up, she can do no wrong. We loved the mustard yellow color of her dress and we loved even more that she paired it with a deep wine colored lip. Flawless. Her hair, jewelry and shoes were all so complementary of each other. This is how you show up as a presenter. Nailed it.

3.Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Zuhair Murad Couture. Slay girl, SLAY! Everything about this look was stunning. Her hair, makeup, and he best accessory of all: Channing Tatum. Best couple of the night. Her dress looked like a constellation filled sky. This went along with the sequin and jewel toned trends of the night.

4. Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. We all know if she wasn’t famous, we would be friends or if we were famous, we would be friends. The girl is so unapologetically hysterical, that it makes her beautiful. This red color was so on trend for the night and the cut out details made the dress edgy. And can we talk about that diamond choker, that was the perfect accessory for this dress.

The Best & Worst Dressed At The 2015 Emmy Awards!

Now the last awards season I had some help from guest bloggers when it came to fashion. Specifically I had help from the Cohn sisters when it came down to the Oscars’ red carpet last year. Both Emily and Hannah know what is going on and I highly reccomend you follow them on Twitter and Youtube. Emily is at @Emilyf_cohn while Hannah’s handle is @HannahE_Beauty. The 67^th annual primetime Emmy awards has officially kicked off award season. We will say that we expected a lot from these beautiful people and well they delivered. We watch E! Religiously and we never miss a live from the red carpet event. The trends we saw tonight included: whites, cranberry reds, blush tones and embellishments. In terms of makeup we saw bold red lips, subtle grey Smokey eyes (yeah we are looking at you, girl who did Amy Schumer’s Smokey eye and got a SO for it!), bold brows, and glowy skin. (Partly due to the 100-degree heat but man, did the ladies work it.) If you had a smart hair stylist, then gave you a stylish up do or sculpted ponytail.  We applaud the girls who tried to have curls, but humidity is not your friend and then ended up not even looking like they did their hair. There is always next year ladies! SO let’s get into it! We have three best dressed and three worst dressed.

1.Emma Roberts

            Emma Roberts in Jenny Packham. This screams elegance and Hollywood glamour. Everything form the silhouette to the beautiful side swept hair  (kudos to that hair stylist! ) When we saw her it literally stopped us in our tracks. (Actively eating pizza during the pre show because that’s what you do when you’re not interviewing celebs (Emily) or doing their makeup (Hannah)! Again, her dress is a beautiful blush tone pink with a deep v neck-line. One word to describe this look would be: Stunning.

2.Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland in Zac Posen. Girllll, this look is amazing. We feel like Sarah always kills it on the red carpet. She is very petite and is always dressed to fit her best.  We LOVED that deep red cranberry color that her dress is. How perfect for fall. Her swooping structured neck line is everything.  Her hair and makeup looked effortless. Here jewelry was also perfection,  we loved how the earrings and arm cuff matched perfectly. One word to describe this look would be: gorgeous.

3. Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington in Marc Jacobs. In our opinion, Kerry can do no wrong. She always slays on the red carpet and tonight she did not disappoint. During the interviews, we didn’t even realize that her dress was not floor-length and when we saw that it was short, we loved it even more. Two words: Flapper Mermaid and we mean that in the best way possible. Her makeup  matched so well with her dress. That dress had so much going on, we were happy that her hair and makeup were simple yet classy. One word to describe this look:  Iconic.

Worst Dressed

            We do have to say that as long as these women felt there best then that is all that matters! These are just our opinions based on our personal style. (Clearly they are much nicer than @WilliKilliams because she never puts a disclaimer on her feelings.)

1.Jaimie Alexander

\Jamie Alexander in Armani Prive. It was just too much. Between the sparkle and the colors. It was just very loud for the Emmys. This would have been awesome at the Grammys or the MTV music video awards.

2. Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum in Versace. She is all about fashion risks and we appreciate this, but we think this just missed the mark. Her right side would have been pretty if it didn’t have that half jacket, one sleeve thing going on. It just looked so incomplete.

3. Claire Danes

Claire Danes in Prada. The color is stunning, just honestly those chains just threw the whole look off for us.

Top Ten Best Dressed Women Of The 2015 Oscars!

Tonight there has been a lot of hype over the red carpet and for good reason! The Oscars are the Super Bowl of fashion and I think we can all agree that I know nothing about fashion. For the Grammys’ I tried really hard to put my fashion knowledge to what I liked and what I didn’t It was very clear that I didn’t know what I was talking about. So I called in two fashion experts to help me out!

Let me introduce my guest bloggers @emilyyfrancesca & @Hannahhhdoll ! These two girls know fashion and I am proud to call them friends as well! Their first comment of the night “winter whites/Ice Blue, pinks and Reds are the trend of the carpet tonight! A lot of texture so far too!”

10. Jennifer Hudson

Emily & Hannah: In Romona Keveza This yellow against her skin tone is phenomenal.  The silhouette is perfection and that skinny gold belt ties everything together. Those emerald earrings? Gorgeous.

Willi: I think she looks great! Her hair looks great, her dress fits her body perfect! Fat Jennifer Hudson from those Weight Watchers commercials would be so proud of this version of Jennifer Hudson! (See why I needed the help of Em and Han?)

9. Chrissy Teigen

Emily & Hannah: In Suhair Murad: One of the hottest trends of the night is this icy blue color. The girl can wear anything. Love the vampy lip with that ice blue. Most unlikely combo but it is working!

Willi: Alright, I don’t love this dress but I can respect that she is working her legs like that! Damn girl, you are killing it. Let’s be real her best accessory is her husband John Legend, I love me some John Legend.

8. Margot Robbie

Emily & Hannah:  In Saint Laurent: A black dress for the red carpet? Can sometimes look a little flat BUT the shear black sleeves add dimension, not to mention that 1930’s choker she is wearing, it was originally made for a duchess but girl can rock it!

Willi:I like that she went with black, it is very different from the whole white and light blue that most people are wearing on the carpet. I think that she looks very elegant, everything is so perfect! Also I can’t wait to see her kill it in Focus.

7. Kerry Washington

Emily & Hannah: In Miu miu: Kerry Washington is channeling her inner Olivia Pope, for those of you who don’t know, that is her character on Scandal.  White hats on people!

Willi:I am going to agree with whatever Emily and Hannah said. I like Kerry Washington in general and I think that she always looks incredible on the red carpet. It also reminds me that every time I see a commercial for Scandal I should really start to watch it. Maybe now I will get into it!

6. Jenna Dewan Tatum

Emily & Hannah: In Zuhair Murad. This is how you do it. She is the epitome of glamour, not to mention having Channing Tatum as you man would make any girl feel beautiful! She radiates beauty and glamour in this dress.

Willi: This is the first time I have ever been like, damn Jenna! Can we talk about her eye makeup? Like damn, they look so incredible with her makeup this time around. Jenna you killing it! Can’t wait to hear about your after party dance off with Channing because it is bound to happen.

5. Jessica Chastain

Emily & Hannah: In Givenchy: This looks like it was tailored to her body. We rarely see her in this navy blue but it is stunning with her red hair. The necklace is subtle and classic. Everything about this is beautiful.

Willi: They said it all. Jessica looks absolutely flawless.

4. Reese Witherspoon

Emma & Hannah:  In Tom Ford. One word, ICONIC. This is something the ladies of the old glamour era of Hollywood would wear. The black detail is perfect. Again with the snowy whites and blues.

Willi: In my opinion Reese is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood and can do no wrong. I do wish that she had some bangs or did something a bit different with her hair. She looks so glamorous though!

4. Jennifer Aniston

Emily & Hannah: In Versace: Her red carpet sexy streak continues and this dress does not disappoint! The color is perfect with her tan skin and dirty blonde hair. It’s too bad she was snubbed because this is a dress to win in! Stunning.

Willi: Can we just take a moment to remember that Jennifer Aniston is 46 years old. If I look even half as good as Jennifer Aniston I will be so happy! I love that she had some sheer material at the bottom of her dress. Again, like Reese, Jen can do no wrong in my book. I do love that she went with a more natural look for make up though!

3. Anna Kendrick

Emily & Hannah: She looks stunning! The cut and style of the dress is beautiful, however the color is a little off. She has definitely started the pink trend of the night. Plus the girl is hysterical!

Willi: I totally disagree with my buddies on this one! I think that the color is perfect, the cut is perfect, everything is so perfect! Anna Kendrick is going to be around for a long time and she is going to rock every red carpet. Who would have thought that she would be the biggest thing to come out of Twilight, am I right?

2. Zoe Saldana

Emily & Hannah: To keep going with the pink trend, she is wearing a blush tone satin gown that is stunning against her skin. Not to mention she just had twin boys! Wonder Women!

Willi: I will literally just repeat the same thing that both Em & Hannah said. Zoe just gave birth to twins, I mean she is killing it! Good for Zoe!

1.  Rosamund Pike

Emily & Hannah: In Givenchy: This is hands down the best dressed of the night! She took a major risk with the red shoe but it works perfectly! Everything from the neckline to the slit is amazing! This is her night style wise.  What a dress to win in, but we all know it’s going to Julianne Moore.

Willi: Rosamund killed it in Gone Girl, and she just slayed the red carpet. I will say that she deserves an Oscar tonight but I feel like it is already set in stone that Julianne Moore will win. Rosamund, you won the red carpet, that is almost as good, right?

The Grammy’s 2015 Best Dressed Men List!

I did the list for the women so I might as well do it for the men as well right? Most people assume that men just wear the whole normal suit and tie thing, but you’re wrong. There are many different ways that men rock their suits, and some are good, some are bad. Let’s get right into it, shall we?

My personal top 5 for the night.

5. Nick Jonas

It’s always nice to see some kind of pattern on the carpet. This isn’t the best use of patterns but let’s be real, Nick Jonas can really do no wrong this year. This has been his year, absolutely perfect too.The pants are a little too tight, but hey, we can work with that. I like that he took a risk, and I believe that this risk ended up paying off.

4. John Mayer

Usually I am not a big fan of the huge stupid glasses, but somehow John pulled it off. I don’t know how but he did. Maybe it is simply because he was straight killing it on the guitar and it went right to my heart. I like that he didn’t go for the classic black suit, instead he went for blue and then it looks like some kind of checkered pants.

3. Julian Edelman

Clearly I am madly in love with Julian Edelman but he looks nice and suave right here, right? To me it almost looks like he is going to prom. His hand position makes him look all nervous, but still adorable. Again a suit that fits his body perfect. His haircut makes him look super sharp though, that is what gets to me.

2. John Legend

John looks perfect, just perfect. This suit is perfectly suited for him. I love that he didn’t feel the need to go with the tie. The whole grey colored suit has always gotten to me. Simple yet classic.

1. Donald Glover (Childish Gambino)

Well fun fact, Donald Glover didn’t smile once while on the red carpet, he made that grouchy face the entire time he walked down it. Other than the lack of happiness, I think that this is my favorite look. Everything from his hair to his loafers, just straight killing it.

The Grammy’s 2015 Best Dressed Women List!

So I am not really one who loves fashion, I don’t want red carpets for the fashion, I watch it for the awkward questions. I do know when I like something though. Everyone knows when something is appealing to the eye and when something makes you want to rip your eyeballs out. Right? You don’t need to be an expert to be able to say someone looks good and someone looks bad.

Let’s get this thing going, right?

5. Rita Ora

Rita Ora is pretty damn perfect, there is no question about that. In my opinion Rita is one of the most underrated performers in the world. She has such an incredible voice, she is beautiful, and look at her looking like a disco ball! I mean it isn’t something I usually like but I am a big fan. I think that her fabulous haircut has something to do with it. It all just works. I will give this outfit a solid B+, I am a fan!

4. Miley Cyus

I have seen a lot of hate on this outfit but I really love what she is doing here. Yeah there are tons of pieces of fabric missing but I don’t care, I love it. Miley is rocking this look for sure. I am so glad seeing her coming back to earth, I think she was up hanging out in Mars for a while or something. Miley is on fleek though. On fleek, that is what the cool kids say now, right?

3. Taylor Swift

I think that Taylor Swift always dresses to kill and that is exactly what she did here. I will say that I don’t love the shoes but damn look at those legs! Tay can really do no wrong in my opinion, can’t get enough of her! I suspect that she will be nominated like crazy next year. I will say that she will have to step up her game!

2. Jhene Aiko

So I am not a hundred percent sure who Jhene Aiko is, I know that she did a song with Drake that was really good but other than that I genuinely don’t know much. I do know that she is number two on this list because she looks incredible. I love how it fits her body and it isn’t a big dress, it isn’t over sized or anything like that. It fits her body perfect and the tone of the dress is perfect for her skin tone. I give this an A+ and now I will go and listen to her music so I don’t sound so ignorant.

1. Lady Gaga

Not only was Lady Gaga best dressed but she also had the best date, I mean who doesn’t love Tony Bennett? He is the man. Anyway, Lady Gaga got first place this red carpet for most improved. I think that this dress is absolutely incredible. I mean sure her boobs are out to play, but hey, she is killing it. I mean on year she showed up in an egg so seeing her like this is absolutely incredible. Killing it Gaga, I am glad that you came to earth too! You and Miley must have taken the same spaceship!

Taylor Swift: Best Dressed At The Grammy Awards

So let us all take a moment to just stop and stare at this beautiful dress that the one and only Taylor Swift wore on the red carpet at the 2014 Grammy Awards. Oh my lord it is incredible! Just look at how perfect it is, especially on her. Now in my humble opinion I think that Taylor should eat a burger or two but you know what, she still looks incredible in this dress.

I know that I jumped to saying this very prematurity simply because I didn’t see all of the other dresses but this is by far my favorite out of the say 20 that I have seen. Pink’s was great but we already went over that one. Taylor just fucking glows in this dress, she looks way better than she did at the Golden Globe Awards.

The only bad thing I have to say about this look is Taylor’s face and I know that sounds really harsh, I know. She just looked tired or something, I couldn’t put my finger on it. Maybe she has been away listening to Selena cry about Justin or maybe she is celebrating because she knows that he will never be her competition ever again? Who knows?! Just get some rest girl so you don’t look so damn tired. Then again getting ready for the show probably took up a few hours so she couldn’t get all that beauty rest.

Although Taylor went home empty handed at least she looked absolutely fabulous doing so, plus I am sure she will cozy up to someone and bring them home as an award. Well probably not but that would be cool right? She needs to get some new material so it might be happening soon!
