Barry Manilow being a gay man may have been one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood but it was a secret that Barry wasn’t ready to share until now.
At 73 years old, Barry has finally came out as a proud gay man after decades of speculation.
He came out on his own time so good for him, that is all I can say.
The singer opened up to Entertainment Tonight about marrying is longtime manager, Garry Kief, after keeping the relationship private for 40 years.
“I don’t know, maybe they care about everybody, but for me, it is so moving, it is so deep that these strangers were so happy that I was happy,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “That I wasn’t alone, that I had somebody that was with me that I loved and that we’d been together for 37 years. We’re in great shape, and I was very grateful for that response.”
“This is my life, we’ve been together for all these years, everybody knows that we’re a team. Everybody that I know knows. So it never really dawned on me to say anything about it. I mean, I’m a very private guy.” Manilow continued to tell ET.
” I’m proud of it, I am. I’m proud of it.”
Congrats to Barry for being able to live his truth in the public eye!
