Dr.Luke Blocks Kesha’s Billboard Award Performance

I was very excited to perform a tribute to Bob Dylan by singing a cover of “It ain’t me, babe” at the Billboard awards this year. I’m very sad and sorry to say I won’t be allowed to do this. I just wanted to make very clear that this performance was about me honoring one of my favorite songwriters of all time and has never had anything at all to do with Dr. Luke. I was never going to use a picture of him, speak of him or allude to my legal situation in any way. I simply wanted to sing a song I love to honor an artist I have always looked up to. thank u all for the continued support.(credit)

Kesha and Dr.Luke have been going through a bitter court battle for a little over a year now, Sony has denied that Dr.Luke has done any wrong doing and that Kesha is free to work with any other producer she would like. Sony is the one who said that she isn’t forced to work with Dr.Luke.

Well, clearly even if she has worked with another producer, like Zedd, she is still under the control of Dr.Luke.Sources have said that Dr.Luke got wind that Kesha would be making a statement performance about their ongoing legal battle, so he decided to say that she couldn’t perform. Now I am not a legal expert but I am assuming because Kesha is signed under his label he can decide whether or not to sign off on a performance.

All that I can say is that this is absolutely disgusting. This man is abusing his power and nobody is doing anything about it. Sony isn’t stepping up, Sony is letting it happen.

Sony should release Kesha from her contract so she can move on with her life. There is absolutely no reason why she shouldn’t be able to perform at an award show and sing a song by her favorite artist.

Doesn’t this just prove how controlling this man is? He is so worried that she will bash him even more, it doesn’t make sense how so many people are letting this happen.

Billboard is hoping that things will change last minute but so far, the outcome doesn’t look very good.
