“A Note to the Fans of FAST & FURIOUS
The FAST & FURIOUS saga is about family. The characters are connected by the bond of family, and it is how all of us who have worked together for more than thirteen years feel about each other. It certainly defines how we feel about our fans.
Our family experienced an unthinkable shock in November. We had to take time to grieve Paul, the brother we love and lost, and to figure out if we should move on with our film.
We came together and all felt the only choice was to continue. We believe our fans want that, and we believe Paul would want that too. Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for FAST & FURIOUS 7, and it’s among the strongest work of his career.
We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.
We are just under a year away from the release of FAST & FURIOUS 7, and this film is the most important we’ve ever done together. It will allow the character of Brian O’Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role.
We wanted to take a moment to speak to our fans directly and thank you for the love and support you always show us as we resume our work.“
Above is the blurb posted on the official Fast and Furious 7 Facebook page, Caleb also reposted this saying that it was true. Now I guess I can see why Cody and Caleb would like to help make their brother’s memory last. The Fast and Furious movie was basically pushed by Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Everyone knows that those two made the franchise run. I am sure the Walker family is aware how much this movie helped their brother, or son, make his mark in the movie world with these movies.
As many people have speculated Caleb and Cody will be stepping up to fill the shoes of their brother. They will be doing stunts that his character would have done and I assume the film makes will CGI his face over their own. They wanted to give Brian the proper send off which makes sense. It is like how Hunger Games is doing that with Phillip Seymour Hoffman for a few of his final scenes.
When I first heard this I thought it was very odd, I didn’t think it was a good idea at all. Just let Paul’s character drive off into the sunset or something like that. Write that he decided to take his family and just move away from all the crazy violence instead of bringing the Walker family into the whole thing.
Maybe it will give the Walker family the closure that they needed. The whole franchise started with Paul and having it end with his family is important, right? They do actually look like him too which is strange. Cody more so than Caleb but whatever.
Good luck to them and I hope that it helps them cope with the loss of their brother, the pay check wont hurt either.
